Introduction

This plugin supply a function to resolve, and insert if it doesn't exist, the date dimension. It calculates all calendar data and you must supply the table info used to save the information.

Installation

To install the plugin download from http://sourceforge.net/projects/su4jd/files/, create a folder (for example DateDim) under [kettle home]/plugins/steps/. Copy the jar in the new folder and extract only the files plugin.xml and DateDimension.png. Start kettle and enjoy!

Usage

To use the plugin open the Data Warehouse category and use the Date Dimension plugin. Open the plugin, you can see all fields:

  • Step name
  • Connection : The database connection to use
  • Input variable : The variable name that contains the date to analyze.
  • Id date variable name : the name of the variable where to save the id of the dimension
  • Table name : the name of the table dimension
  • Id column : Column name of the id
  • Timestamp column : Column name where to save the timestamp
  • Year column : Column name where to save the year (example 2010)
  • Month column : Column name where to save the month (1 to 12)
  • Day column : Column name where to save the day (1 to 31)
  • Hour column : Column name where to save the hour (0 to 23)
  • Minute column : Column name where to save the minutes (0 to 59)
  • Day of week column : Column name where to save the day of the week (1=Monday to 7=Sunday)
  • Week column : Column name where to save the number of the week in the year
  • Two month column : Column name where to save the number of the two month ( 1 to 6 )
  • Tree month column : Column name where to save the number of the tree month ( 1 to 4 )
  • Four month column : Column name where to save the number of the four month ( 1 to 3 )
  • Six month column : Column name where to save the number of the six month ( 1 to 2 )

    All column names are optional but there are 5 columns that are mandatory and if the name aren't set, default names will used. The mandatory columns are :
